“Lyrical, thoughtful and sophisticated”

Well known as a performer/composer on the Canadian jazz scene for many years, pianist Tom Van Seters is currently promoting his latest CD entitled "The Long View" (VSM Records) which features Canadian jazz legend Don Thompson (vibraphone). "The Long View" was recorded in Winnipeg, Manitoba after a highly successful concert tour of the Canadian Prairies during the fall of 2005. LISTEN/BUY THIS CD NOW.

Tom's critically acclaimed 2002 CD entitled "Narrative" (VSM Records) features Juno award winners Mike Murley (saxophones) and Kevin Turcotte (trumpet/flugel horn) and was voted one of the TOP 10 Canadian Jazz Albums of 2002 by Toronto's all jazz radio station, JAZZ FM 91.1.

A native of Montreal, he has performed with numerous Canadian jazz greats including Dave Turner, Kelly Jefferson, Quinsin Nachov, Jim Vivian, George Mitchel, Ted Warren, and Jim Hillman (to name a few). His music has been featured on radio programs throughout Canada including the CBC and on stage at many Canadian music festivals. He has received generous support from the Canada Council for the Arts and from Le Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.

Tom is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Toronto while teaching Jazz Studies part time at Toronto's Humber College. For three years prior to this he taught Jazz Studies full time at the Brandon University School of Music.
